announced today the formation of DCN Studios, a full-service entertainment
studio that will produce original content for the network's college
audience.
DCN Studios, headquartered at Universal Studio, Hollywood, will be led by
entertainment industry veterans David Salzberg and Christian Tureaud.
The Digital College Network is North America's largest digital college
network delivering broadcast quality original programming, advertising and
unique messaging to more than 3.3 million college students, faculty and
alumni monthly via web-based LCD screens at more than 240 bookstores. Summer
installations will increase the network's reach to 4.1 million at more than
310 U.S. campuses.
"In launching DCN Studios, we knew it was essential to partner with
executives who bring the right mixture of talent and expertise, those with
experience in entertainment, production, financing and brand relations,"
said Chris Esposito, president of DCN. "David and Christian truly encompass
this unique skill set, and we are delighted to have them on board as our
ambassadors."
DCN Studios will develop and produce original, licensed and
student-generated content, which will be aired on the network and
distributed across DCN's multiple platforms, including DCNLive, the
network's soon-to-launch web site.
"We are thrilled to be teaming with Digital College Network to run DCN
Studios," said Salzberg whose experience includes the founding of Mandalay
Sports Action Entertainment and Mandalay Integrated Media Entertainment. "We
are excited to work in the ever-evolving digital entertainment space to
produce quality, impactful content that will connect with the college
demographic."
Salzberg and Tureaud will lead the company as co-presidents and oversee
content development, production, strategy, brand and sponsor opportunities
and distribution deals.
"The content we will create at DCN Studios will offer brands and advertisers
a rich opportunity to reach that critically important 18-to-24 demographic,"
said Tureaud, who founded CyberAction Inc., a multi-media sports and
entertainment distribution company. "We've already been approached by
Fortune 500 brands that are eager to find new and innovative ways to reach
this audience."
Both entertainment executive have produced a number of movies and television
shows, including the documentary Running the Sahara. Academy Award winner
Matt Damon narrated the movie and served as executive producer; Academy
Award winner James Moll directed.
DCN Studios is already in production with new content that will debut on the
network at the start of the fall semester. DCN's content is divided into
seven categories: sports, comedy, entertainment, lifestyle, environmental,
music and news.
Fall will also see the launch of the DCN Tailgate Tour. DCN will take its
