Billboard Vinyl Flex

The printing of billboard vinyls and other large substrates is often referred to as Large Format Digital Printing as well as Grand Format Digital Printing.

A vinyl flex is what the actual advertisements design is printed on. Once produced, the vinyl flex is then shipped to the outdoor advertising plant, where the installation crew unfolds, and stretches the vinyl graphic over a facing or framing system. The vinyl is typically held in place by numerous ratchets that allow the installers to ensure the graphic is secure, and to display the finished, crisp wrinkle free design. Since, the flex is stretched over the sign; it also allows the advertiser to move this image to various locations of the same dimensions, thus increasing their market reach.

Applications for billboard vinyl flexes are endless. In regards to the life of the vinyl, most advertisers tend to update or change their message well before the vinyl starts to show its age. It is not out of the ordinary to see vinyls that have been posted for 3 years to still look as clean and crisp as the day they were installed. The life of the vinyl can also be enhanced by an additional year by having a UV clear coat added. Naturally, this will increase the cost of production.

Some of the more common sizes for the billboard displays are as follows:

20' x 60'
14' x 48'
12' x 48'
12' x 50'
12'3" x 24'6"
12' x 25'
10'5" x 22'8"
10'6" x 36'
10' x 40'
6' x 12'

While these are the common sizes, essentially any size can be produced.

Exterior Banner

Exterior banners are essentially the same concept of a billboard vinyl flex, just on a smaller scale, so they can withstand the elements year in and year out. Since the viewing distance is often less than that of a billboard, exterior banners are often printed at a higher resolution. Exterior banners, may also be finished with pole pockets the same as a billboard or with grommets, which are metal eyelets that provide the advertiser multiple attachment points to assist in the installation. Exterior banners can be printed either single sided, or double sided on a vinyl, as well as on a fine vinyl mesh, which allows the wind to escape while still providing a clean crisp image. In regards to sizing, if you can dream it, odds are we can make it happen.

Exterior Vinyl Banner

Similar to a billboard vinyl flex, just printed on a smaller scale. Depending upon the viewing distance, the print resolution may be increased. With vinyl, the design can be printed single or double sided.

Ever since printing on vinyl mesh began a few years ago, the options for advertisers and unique ad placements have reached new levels. The vinyl mesh allows wind and elements to flow through the design while also reducing the weight of the graphic. Due to the nature of the substrate, the graphic can only be printed on one side. Some common applications for vinyl mesh include wallscapes, building wraps, parking garages, the back of bleachers, and construction job site fencing. Common finishing for vinyl mesh banners is with a reinforced hem and grommets every 2 to 3 feet. In regards to sizing, if you can dream it, odds are we can make it happen.

Example Sizes: 1' x 1' to 50' x 200' or 100' x 100'

Mesh Vinyl Wallscape / Mesh Building Wrap

Vinyl mesh is often used as the graphic material that you see covering giant sized walls and wrapping around buildings.

Ever since printing on vinyl mesh began a few years ago, the options for advertisers and unique ad placements have reached new levels. The vinyl mesh allows wind and elements to flow through the design while also reducing the weight of the graphic. Due to the nature of the substrate, the graphic can only be printed on one side. Some common applications for vinyl mesh include wallscapes, building wraps, parking garages, the back of bleachers, and construction site fencing. Common finishing for vinyl mesh banners is with a reinforced hem and grommets every 2 to 3 feet. In regards to sizing, if you can dream it, odds are we can make it happen.

TriVision Billboards / TriVision Mobile Trucks

TriVisions are advertising displays that allows upto 3 advertisers to display their message in a predetermined order, generally in increments of every 6 to 8 seconds. Over the years, trivision technology has changed, so it is crucial to determine which substrate your material needs to be produced from. If it just so happens to be rigid PVC, you will want to include the number of slats required, overall dimensions, slat thickness (generally .015 or .020), slat width, and manufacturer of trivision unit. This information, will help ensure a proper fit the first time, saving everyone frustration.

Rigid Cut PVC TriVision

Rigid Cut PVC is the latest innovation in trivisions. It allows the graphic to be printed directly onto a rigid material that is then cut into individual slats that slide directly into the advertising unit, drastically reducing installation costs and time. Each slat is individually labeled, so the installer knows just where to install the graphic on the sign. Another upside to rigid PVC trivisions, would be that they allow for the graphic to be stored and reused at a later date without having to purchase the costly aluminum slats that pressure sensitive vinyl (PSV) trivisions often implement.

Pressure Sensitive Vinyl (PSV) / (SAV) Self Adhesive Vinyl

Pressure sensitive vinyl often referred to as PSV also know as SAV is available in two options. Permanent PSV as well as Removable PSV.

Permanent PSV / SAV

Permanent is not necessarily permanent as in forever, it just takes a substantial amount more effort to remove the graphic once applied. Once a trivision slat is covered with permanent PSV, it is often covered with another layer of PSV when the next advertiser is to post, in order to prevent damage to the trivision slats.

Removable PSV / SAV

Removable PSV is simply that, removable, with a tack that is not generally left up for longer than 30 days.

Poster / Paper

Poster paper is the substrate that has been for years to post on both 8 and 30 sheet advertising displays. Purchased in quantities, paper can be substantially less than that of vinyl, however, the life of the product is essentially 30 days. Another benefit of paper is that it also allows the advertiser to change their message every 30 days. While paper will still be around for years, many of these units are being upgraded to accept a new style of billboard vinyl, many of which are environmentally friendly.

30 Sheet Poster

Transit / Bus Displays / Bus Shelters / Alternative OOH

Vehicle Wraps / Bus Wraps

Pretty much self exclamatory, vehicle wraps and bus wraps are where the vehicle is either fully or partially covered with hi performance PSVís and perforated window vinyl if necessary. Depending upon the application, we may recommend and provide you with 3M 160C, 3M 180C, or Flexcon BUSmark.

Bus Displays / Bus Benches

Taking your advertising directly to the streets? Bus displays implement the use of advertising faces located on the front (bus headlight), back (bus tail) and sides of buses (king, super king, king kong, queen, and mini queen bus posters).

Bus/Transit Shelter

Bus and transit shelters are often used as an alternative out of home option, when and where billboards are not allowed. Two common sizes for bus shelters are 68.5" x 47.5" and 44" x 65". However, one should always confirm overall/trim sizes to ensure a proper fit. Produced in one sheet from a backlit paper that is laminated on both the front and back.

Taxi Tops

When your in New York City and you see the ads on top of taxis, your looking at a taxi top. These cabs often use a backlit topper, so the translucent PSV looks stunning of an evening. A common size for this particular media is 14" x 48".

Urban Panels

These units are available in subway systems at the station entrances. A common size for this media is 28" x 58", however this may vary.

Wall Murals

Dye Sublimation

With dye sub printing, the graphic is initially printed on coated transfer paper as a reverse image of the desired final design. This is then transferred onto a polyester fabric in a heat press operating at a temperatures near 375 F. Under this high temperature and pressure, the dye turns into a gas and permeates the fabric, which then solidifies into its fibers. The fabric is now permanently dyed so it can be washed time and time again, without damaging the quality of the image. Some popular fabrics to use with this print method for trade shows, home shows, and office decoration are: heavy knit, mesh for jerseys, power stretch, flag, poplin, sheer, poly knit, poly satin, poly silk, poly linen, and poly georgette.
