The Digital College Network was designed to provide advertisers with efficient and effective access to the college and university market (17- to 27-year-old demographic) in addition to faculty, parents and alumni. College book stores today are more like convenience stores, and many of the larger stores feature thousands of SKUs for their consumers. Our digital signage network features 42-inch LCD screens with full audio and video capability. Each screen in every store has its own IP address allowing instant and real time communication to every location. Because all screens are accessed through the Follett network, which records every cash register transaction, the number of students reached is easily verifiable.

The Digital College Network enjoys a multi-year agreement with Follett Higher Education Group (www.fheg.follett.com). The company is 135 years old and serves over 800 college bookstores in the US and Canada reaching in excess of 42 million students every year. In conjunction with Follett Higher Education, DCN will install and manage the digital network using our own server and work closely with Follett to download new ads or messages each evening once cash register transactions are concluded. DCN also provides advertisers and sponsors with additional opportunities to sample products, distribute coupons and interact directly with consumers. Accurate demographics including sales and transaction history are available on the number and size of transactions on a store-by-store basis.

Our Audience

The Digital College Network reaches 3.4 million students and faculty every month (on average). Some months, such as the busy “back to school” months of August and January provide higher traffic counts. Demographic data to date indicates that consumers in book stores spend large amounts of money in book stores for not only books but also toiletries, apparel, food items, etc.

The highly desirable and increasingly difficult to reach 17- to 27-year-old demographic is easily and efficiently reached at the college book store. Largely upscale and with disposable income, this audience is savvy and tuned in to technology. The state-of-the-art LCD panels are designed to attract and hold the attention of the students.
