Samsung, the world’s leading LCD panel manufacturer has collaborated with Outdoor Promotions, a US based digital signage company, to light up the Las Vegas strip.

From October 2008, the companies will deploy eighteen 70-inch diagonal, sunlight-readable Digital Information Displays (DID) on prominent bus shelters, from the Mandalay Bay Resort on the south side to the Rivera Hotel at the north end. The implementation will be seen by an estimated 1.5 million pedestrians and 1.8 million cars every month.

Outdoor Promotions has a 20-year advertising rights agreement with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada for digital signage on bus shelter curb side billboards.

Offering 1080p, the 70-inch digital signs are also being customized to make them the brightest ever erected and each will use localised audio to engage consumers.

Another 20 systems are planned for installation in early 2009.

There is a lot of competition for eyeballs as you travel down the Las Vegas strip, and for a digital signage project to stand out, it would have to big. This project is certainly big. Highbright 70" displays all down the curbside is going to be a spectacle in itself.

The prize is obviously great - not only with the huge number of visitors the city attracts every day, but also with its growing urban population. The screens will provide an excellent opportunity for brand advertisers to sell their products and will also provide the casinos with a great platform to entice gamblers.
