Eskimo Cold Storage is a new company that opened its doors in the spring 2007. It is located in Gainesville, GA, south of Highway 129, in the triangle between I-85 and I-985. Eskimo’s facility is 125,000 square feet with a capacity to store over 16,000 pallets of frozen food products and serves primarily the poultry industry. The system used until now did not provide the solutions needed to handle their operations. “We started our operations with an in-house system, but unfortunately, it was not providing us with everything that we needed” commented Karen Reece, VP. The turn-key solution selected provided the company with an increased visibility of their inventory, mobility in their warehouse, and real-time information, which allows the company to provide a higher level of customer service. The company went live on July 27th, 2007 only taking around 6 weeks from the beginning of the implementation. “We had the system up and running in approximately 45 days which is pretty fast for an implementation like this” explained Karen. “Our priority was to provide our customers with the service that they deserved as soon as possible, so we were pretty happy with the speed of the implementation and how robust the system was, it can handle everything that we need”. Datex EX 3PL Warehouse Management System is composed of modules that automate warehousing operations based on the use of RF terminals and system directed operations. The capabilities of the system include receiving, blind receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, shipping, inventory control and order management among others. Among the main features of the solution for cold storage operators is the systems ability to capture temperature at any time during the process, lot control, pallet tracking, full reporting and 3PL billing capabilities. Datex also provided Eskimo with the training and support needed for the implementation and the go-live. "We are excited to be moving to an RF-based platform and look forward to working with Datex for many years to come" said Karen. "Datex has brought all that we envisioned when designing the facility" added Steve Williams, President. Visit Datex's Premier Member Profile...
