(TORONTO: October 11, 2007) – A WestJet 737 has now ‘taken flight’ at Yonge-Dundas Square and is ‘flying’ around the Square on a series of video boards, tightly coordinated in action. The new campaign for WestJet is to announce their new route to the Dominican Republic and launch a contest for free trips. As the plane starts to fly across the video boards, it leaves messages behind: “win your seat in the sun”, “we’re taking a plane full of winners to the Dominican”, “enter at winwithwestjet.com” Media Experts, the media agency, and TAXI Calgary the creative agency for WestJet, created the unique concept. OBN was asked by Media Experts to be the lead in coordinating the multi-board campaign with three other video board companies - Clear Channel Outdoor, Penex Media and Titan Outdoor. The ads air at the top and bottom of the hour and have a synchronized motion from one video board to another around the Square. All video boards are precisely timed so that the action moves seamlessly from one video board to the next until the end of the sequence. “WestJet is the fun and friendly airline and this is certainly a fun way to get the message out to Torontonians about our great new additions to the Caribbean,” commented Lauri Feser, WestJet’s Vice-President, Marketing. “Our popular Owners campaign takes on a new twist by bringing a unique and engaging opportunity for people who view this creative to become a guest aboard our planes and find out why WestJetters care so much.” Peter Irwin, President of OBN, says, “We were pleased as a group of companies to be able to work together to offer WestJet this unique and tightly synchronized ad campaign. It also demonstrates just one of the many ways our video board technology can help clients stand out from the crowd and command attention.” The campaign runs until November.
