PICKERINGTON, Ohio (February 15, 2007) – AMA Racing has partnered with Venix Media to bring large-format video screens to all rounds of the AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited. Video screens as large as 17’X23’ will be featured and, depending on the race venue, up to six units will be positioned at high-visibility locations around the track. Real-time racing action as well as live and taped behind-the-scenes material will be shown over the course of the race weekend dramatically improving fan involvement and enjoyment. Additionally, plans call for a “movie-night” at the conclusion of daily racing activities. Motorcycle-themed entertainment will be aired including features such as “The Doctor, The Tornado and the Kentucky Kid”. “Bringing large format video screens to the AMA Superbike environment will help us improve the overall presentation of the sport”, said Gus Niewenhous, AMA Racing’s Assistant Manager, Commercial Development. “One inherent problem facing road course environments is that it is rarely possible to see all the action from a single spot in the facility unlike other forms of motorcycle racing like AMA Supercross or Flat Track. Adding these screens changes that dynamic and, in fact, allows us to take the presentation much further with our weekend-long broadcasting plans. We believe this will enhance the on-site appeal of the typical road racing weekend.” Niewenhous added that spectators can now be in on all the action as it unfolds regardless of where they are at the facility. Cameras will be bringing live action from the Winners Circle, post-race press conferences, tech inspection tear-downs, team transporters and pit lane, among other things. Live timing and scoring during all on-track action will be part of the presentation, as well. Lauren Okula, President of Venix Media is also enthusiastic about the partnership. “We are very excited about initiating our new relationship with AMA Racing. We’re confident we have the ability to build a strong program that will add to the overall experience at each event and are looking forward to fan feedback.” Over 615,000 fans attended an AMA Superbike event in 2006, a new record for the series. The 2007 AMA Superbike Championship begins during Daytona’s famed Bike Week on Wed., March 7th.
