Dynamax’s close involvement in the booming digital billboard sector, has seen it play a prominent role in helping Titan Transvision switch its news services from BBC News 24 to SKY News, as well as complete a major content management upgrade, at the beginning of February. The Transvision network had been successfully using BBC News 24’s newsfeed across 17 train station screens since 2002. However, Titan decided it was the right time to convert to SKY. “We recognized that we needed a more sophisticated system than the one in place, and looked to Dynamax to help us deliver it” explains Robert Hood at Titan. “SKY’s newsfeeds were ideal, as they allowed us a greater number of ‘segments’ of news content, with more stories per segment broadcast directly from the SKY newsroom. They also gave us the chance to broadcast more local information – crucial now that Transvision ranges from Glasgow to London – and larger, more impressive video clips.” The transition also involved a content management upgrade to PointOfView NG2 which required key input from Dynamax on two counts. Firstly, Dynamax’s in house developers liaised closely with SKY’s software contractors, Creative Jar, to develop and implement a system of newsfeeds which could be seamlessly co-ordinated with its newsroom. This enables each new item published on the SKY website to be automatically ‘pushed’ to the Transvision network. Secondly, Dynamax was in place to upgrade the entire content management system behind Transvision, installing and testing a new PointOfView NG2 Server at Titan’s head offi ce in London and new PointOfView NG2 Players at each of the Transvision sites across the UK. |
