(Minneapolis – 07.11.07) Now that summer break is in full swing, media agencies are building back-to-school efforts with a new kind of media in their mix - free college textbooks. This new advertising channel has recently been utilized by sponsors such as Downloaded “e-textbooks” saved students over $1 Million last year discover, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and College Loan Corporation. Through Campus Media Group, the exclusive advertising arm of Freeload Press, Inc., national advertisers indirectly take the edge off college expenses for students by supporting this service which offers hundreds of different textbooks and ancillary materials free to students at universities across the country. The number of offerings has multiplied ten times since the inception of this new ad medium in the fall of 2006. During the 2006/2007 academic year, students from more than 1,700 colleges and universities have completed the easy registration at www.freeloadpress.com and downloaded textbooks that included national advertising display ads imbedded in the PDFs of each chapter. These "Study Break Ads”™ strategically appear in natural breaks in a book, such as the beginning and end of chapters. Ads can include hyperlinks to take students directly to an advertiser website. “We also see click through on the cross promotional banner ads on the Freeload Press download site,” notes Campus Media Group’s Director of Marketing, Jason Bakker. “In addition, for the spring semester of 2008 we intend to have pre-roll video ads and audio ads available, both in the textbooks and on the download site.” View Premier Member Profile..... From the advertiser’s perspective, Bakker sees this channel as an exceptionally useful way to reach college students with national branding. “The textbook ad not only can drive leads and traffic through live hyperlinks in the PDF chapters, but potentially consumer loyalty, in that the student knows that these advertisers have essentially given them a gift of significant value by offsetting the costs of textbooks.” He sees the rapid and continuing expansion of the Freeload Press library as a huge opportunity for firms looking to tap the college market. Bakker is quick to add, “We have a number of advertisers that have been interested in participating this coming academic year who have found value in this program.” Marketing professionals interested in considering this innovative channel can simply visit: www.campusmediagroup.com/etextbooks.asp According to James R. Hollenbeck, President of Hollenbeck Associates in San Francisco, "We see e-textbooks as an exceptional way to complement our other marketing efforts with Campus Media Group. The e-textbook channel is of particular interest to us in marketing products that are important to students during the study process." Both instructors and students find this service useful and appropriate. According to Dr. Frank Werner, of Fordham University says, “Campus Media Group and Freeload Press are taking access to textbooks to a whole new level. Now every student can use the textbook…regardless of income level.” The top five institutions adopting the program last year were: Colorado State; Fordham University; Georgetown; Michigan State; and the schools of the California State University system. Jennifer, a student at Webster University, emailed the company after downloading her textbook, saying, “This is awesome! A simple way to help make education more affordable to more people.” About Campus Media Group Campus Media Group, Inc., is a leading national youth media and marketing agency that assists national brands in developing customized media strategies that reach high school and college youth.
